Paper Lamps

A paper lamp spreads its light more softly than almost any other material. The paper hides the bulb, absorbs the glare and releases the light evenly and warmly into the room – ideal for bedrooms, living rooms and quiet reading corners. In this collection you will find paper lamps and rice paper lamps in wabi-sabi style, as pendant lights and table lamps.

The paper lamps in this collection

  • Rice paper globe: FREJA is the classic paper globe in cream rice paper over fine ribs, in diameters from 30 to 60 cm.
  • Flat pendant: FRIGG has the oval silhouette of a UFO lantern in white, fibrous paper and works well above a dining table or bed.
  • Large mushroom lamp: SELMA sets a wide conical shade on a column of crumpled paper and, at Ø 50 or 75 cm, becomes a true light sculpture.
  • Small table lamps: SIGNE, in a teardrop or globe shape, stands on slender wire legs; RIIKA pairs a pleated rice paper shade with a wood-effect ceramic base.

Tips for your paper lamp

Use warm white LED bulbs: they produce little heat, and the paper glows in a soft cream tone. How much light the shade lets through depends on the thickness of the paper and its size – one large globe lights a room more evenly than several small ones. Paper is sensitive to moisture and pressure; dust it with a dry, soft brush. Dimensions and what is included are listed on each product page.

Frequently asked questions

Is a rice paper lamp bright enough for a living room?

As ambient light, yes, if the shade is large enough. For reading or working, combine it with a table lamp or floor lamp.

Can I use a paper lamp in the kitchen?

Above the dining table, yes. Directly above the stovetop, paper is less suitable because of steam and grease.
