Wabi-Sabi Lamps

Wabi-sabi celebrates the beauty of the simple and the imperfect: natural materials, visible textures and calm, organic shapes. A wabi-sabi lamp never demands attention. It gives soft, muted light and remains an object in its own right even when switched off. In this collection you will find lights in paper, fabric, silk, rattan, ceramic, wood and travertine.

Materials and shapes

  • Paper: SIGNE looks like a small lantern, while SELMA, a large mushroom lamp on a crumpled paper column, stands in the room like a sculpture.
  • Fabric and silk: ceiling lights such as KLARA, KELDA and LIESE and the pendant lights ERLA and ETTA stretch cream fabric over fine ribs for glare-free light.
  • Rattan: the rattan flower ASTA and the teardrop-shaped ARVE bring a natural weave above the dining table or sofa.
  • Stone and ceramic: SAGAR is a mushroom lamp with a travertine base, HANNE stacks wood, travertine and a glass globe, and GODIA shows a textured relief ceramic. LENA, LAILA and FLORA have a textured stone-effect surface.

Planning wabi-sabi lighting

Layered light is typical of the style: a calm ceiling light for ambient light, complemented by table lamps and pendants hung low. Choose warm white bulbs of 2700 to 3000 K. Natural tones such as cream, beige, sand and wood combine freely and go well with linen, wool and ceramics. With natural stone, rattan and paper, texture and color vary slightly from piece to piece – which is exactly the spirit of wabi-sabi. Each product page states whether a bulb is included.
