Fabric table lamps: how to choose

  • Pleated or smooth: pleated shades such as those on PIA, RAKEL or SAGA feel playful and slightly nostalgic, while smooth shades such as those on SIRI or RONJA are calmer and more classic.
  • The base as a feature: SIRI and SOFIE stand on marble, RONJA on woven rattan, RITA, RAKEL, RAGNA and PIA on wood.
  • Size: for a nightstand, 25 to 31 cm in height is enough, as with SIRI, PIA or RAKEL. RITA, with its wide drum shade up to Ø 40 cm and 60 cm in height, is better suited to a sideboard or console table.

Light and placement

When you are seated, the bottom edge of the shade should be roughly at eye level so the bulb does not dazzle. Light fabrics in cream or ivory let more light through and feel airy, while patterned shades such as SAGA’s floral version add a homely touch. In the evening, warm white light of 2700 to 3000 K makes wood, marble and rattan look warmer. To remove dust, a soft clothes brush or a lint roller is all you need.
