Dimmable Wall Sconces
Dimmable wall sconces create a calm evening atmosphere without leaving the room in the dark. In this collection you will find dimmable wall sconces in travertine, alabaster, marble, terrazzo, ceramic, glass and solid wood – with opal glass globes, up-and-down light, slim light lines and stone monoliths. Dimmed, the light from stone, wood and glass looks especially soft, and you decide how brightly the wall glows.
How these wall sconces dim
- With a separate bulb: most models take a separate bulb. You need a dimmable bulb and a separate dimmer, neither of which is included. Multi-light models such as KOVA or SULA, with two or three bulb holders, give more light.
- With integrated LED: models such as ZILA, MINA, ANKA and ZEVO use an integrated LED – on ZILA and ZEVO it cannot be replaced. They dim with a compatible dimmer sold separately; JOGNE, for instance, needs a triac wall dimmer.
- By remote control: according to its specifications, the linear LED wall sconce EXTY in black aluminum dims by remote control. It comes in seven lengths from 30 to 150 cm.
- Installation: most of these lights are hardwired to the wall, some also to the ceiling. Have the light and dimmer installed by a licensed electrician. Where you adjust the light often, such as beside the bed, a dimmer within easy reach is worth it.
Dimmable wall sconces around the home
Beside the bed, in the hallway as a guiding light or in the living room as a second layer of light, dimmed wall sconces soften the effect of overhead lighting. Up-and-down models such as BOKI in travertine or DALA in terrazzo wash light up and down the wall. Alabaster, as on ZILA or TARA, reveals its veining when lit, while opal glass globes such as VITO or NEMI diffuse the light softly.
Natural stone varies in veining, pores and tone from piece to piece. Bulb type, maximum wattage and dimming notes are listed on each product page. Make sure the dimmer and bulbs are compatible with each other.
