Reading Lamps
Reading lamps give you focused, comfortable light on a book, newspaper or tablet without switching on the ceiling light. In this collection you will find reading lamps for the bedside table, sofa and desk: cordless rechargeable lamps with touch dimming, the classic banker’s lamp with a pull chain, and table lamps in opal glass and marble.
How to choose a reading lamp
- Light pointing down: cone, dome and mushroom shades direct the light onto the page and reduce glare. FREY with its cone shade and OSLO with its metal dome are typical examples.
- Touch dimming: many rechargeable models dim right on the lamp. OSLO dims steplessly, NOVA steplessly from 20 to 100 %, and DESKA in three steps (30, 60 and 100 %).
- Colour temperature: for reading in the evening, warm white around 3000 K feels restful. TOVI with its pleated shade covers 3000 to 6500 K, MIRO 2700 to 4500 K with a memory function.
- Cordless or mains: rechargeable lamps go wherever you happen to be reading. Corded lamps such as NOKA and ENNA take a separate bulb; NOKA can be dimmed with a dimmable bulb and a dimmer (neither included).
Classics for the reading chair
The banker’s lamp ANTIK brings the library classic to your desk or side table: a curved shade, a straight stem and a pull chain, in green-gold, white-silver or black-gold. For a touch of colour, RANGU sets a coloured glass shade on a chrome base with a USB port.
Place your reading lamp beside you, roughly at shoulder height or a little lower, so the light falls onto the page from the side and your shadow stays off the book. Combined with soft background light in the room, evening reading feels more relaxed. For long evenings with a book, check the battery life: OSLO runs for 6 to 20 hours depending on brightness, NOVA for 12 to 15 hours. Battery life, dimensions and colour temperatures are listed on each product page.
