The alabaster ceiling light DERPI gathers numerous stone spheres into a dense cluster beneath the ceiling. Switched off, it is an object of stone and brass; switched on, a soft, widely diffused source of light.
Design and material
A round brass ceiling plate carries short vertical rods on which spheres of genuine alabaster sit at different heights. The 30 cm version has seven spheres, and the larger models carry correspondingly more. The ivory spheres show honey-coloured veins that stand out clearly when the light is on. The light is scattered within the stone rather than reflected off its surface, so it feels soft and glare-free. Veining, tone and translucency vary from piece to piece.

Where the light comes into its own
In the living room, DERPI becomes the focal point above a seating area or a reading corner. In the dining area, the 40 or 50 cm version creates a generous, warm cloud of light above the table. In the bedroom, the smallest model is often enough and still works well with a lower ceiling. Wooden shelves, linen and muted greens pair beautifully with alabaster and brass.
