The Bauhaus table lamp DOLIA takes up one of the best-known design forms of the 1920s: an opal glass dome above a slender chrome-plated column.
Design and material
The round opal glass dome sits in a polished chrome ring and spreads the light softly and evenly. Below it follows a cylindrical column with stepped chrome elements, standing on a round disc of clear glass. The lamp is switched on with a pull switch, its chain ending in a small metal ball. Clear geometry, glass and chrome create a pared-back, timeless silhouette. The glass base makes the lamp look light, as if it were floating above the surface, while the chrome reflects its surroundings.

Where the light comes into its own
On a desk, DOLIA gives a pleasant light for reading and writing. On a bedside table, a tug on the chain is all it takes to switch it on from the bed. In the living room, it suits a bookcase, a sideboard or a side table beside the sofa. Pale wood, wicker and clean shapes underline its Bauhaus character, while dark furniture brings out the gleam of glass and chrome.
