The alabaster wall sconce GERCE is all about restraint: a compact oval plate of genuine alabaster, a bracket that stays in the background, and the stone playing with the light all on its own.
Design and materials
The vertical plate with rounded ends is carved from a solid block and held by four small clips on a slim brass frame. The frame comes in gold or black, and the light in two heights: 35 and 63 cm (24.8 in), each 12.7 cm (5 in) wide. Switched off, GERCE is a stone object with lively veining; switched on, a soft, glare-free source of light, as the alabaster diffuses the light within its depth rather than reflecting it from the surface. The integrated LED gives a warm white light at 3000 K, and is also available in a version for Triac dimmers on request. Veining, tone and translucency vary from piece to piece.
