The alabaster wall sconce JILVA is reduced to a single element: a thick disc of genuine alabaster carried by a simple wall plate. Switched off, it looks like a piece of stone; switched on, a soft, round source of light.
Design and materials
The round disc is carved from a solid block of alabaster rather than assembled from reconstituted stone; the front is flat and the edge gently rounded. Behind it sits a round metal wall plate, in brass or black depending on the version, which remains visible at the sides as a fine rim. The integrated LED gives a warm white light (3000 K) and passes through the stone rather than glaring from its surface: the veins show against the light, and the light feels subdued and even. JILVA comes in four diameters from 15 to 25 cm. Veining, tone and translucency vary from piece to piece.

Where it shines
In the bedroom, a pair of JILVA lights either side of the bed replaces the bedside lamp and keeps the surface clear. In the living room it adds a calm point of light beside an armchair or above a sideboard, and the smaller diameters also suit hallways and stairwells. The 20 and 25 cm versions look more balanced on wide walls and in tall rooms. Brass suits warm wood tones and linen, while black suits pared-back, high-contrast interiors.
