The ceramic table lamp VALA sits somewhere between a light and a piece of pottery: its thrown base is painted in a patchwork of colored fields, topped by a wide linen shade.
Design and material
The oval base of thrown ceramic carries irregular fields of terracotta, slate blue, ecru and anthracite, with brushstrokes visible beneath the glaze. A neck of polished brass connects it to the conical shade of natural linen, which opens out to 48 cm (18.9 in) in diameter. The light falls broadly and warmly onto the surface the lamp stands on. As each base is painted, the patterns and color gradients differ from lamp to lamp.

Where the light comes into its own
On a sideboard or dresser in the living room, VALA, at 60 cm (23.6 in) high, becomes a colorful centrepiece. In a reading corner beside the armchair, the large linen shade gives a pleasantly broad light. On a bedroom chest of drawers or a hallway console, it brings color and an artist’s-studio feel. Walnut, linen and warm wall tones suit its palette.
